Welcome

Hi,

Many thanks for visiting my site. I am an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne. I am a Human Geographer whose research interests include risk management and public participation. I explore these topics in two locations: risk in Australia and agrarian change in Cambodia. That might seem like an ecclectic pairing, but my training within Science and Technology Studies helps me explore the role of experts, expertise, and power in the context of governance of risk.

I try to update this site as often as I can, but admit that it is pretty rare. My aim with the site is to create a space where people might access information about my research. I don’t monitor the comments sections on this site, so please just send an email if you have any comments or questions (brian.cook[at]unimelb.edu.au).

My two biggest projects are the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research funded project (go here) and my flood risk project funded by Melbourne Water (go here).

Best wishes,

Brian
